Jasmin Music Studio congratulates Emma Inara Md. Hizam for her excellent performance at the recent Brunei Young Musician Concert. Held at the JIS Foyer, Emma along with several other young, talented musicians from various music schools entertained the audience with their respective music pieces. Emma played one from Frederic Chopin - Nocturne in C# Minor. Emma displayed a colourful expression of skill and confidence, and she will continue to grow her musical abilities. Everyone here at Jasmin Music Studio is proud of what she has achieved with her efforts. Emma Inara and the ones who came to support her. Jasmin Music Studio is a music school that prioritises on the ABRSM exam, always pushing for our students to obtain high results in both Theory & Practical. But despite that, we also ensure anyone under us who possess the ability and potential to perform on stage - we work at 100% to make sure they are ready for it!

JMS Violin Instructor, John Raymond, Entertains at Wedding Event in Rizqun International Hotel18/11/2018 On the 18th November 2018, we are pleased to see our Violin teacher, John Raymond performing for a wedding event held at the Songket Ballroom on the 4th floor of the Rizqun International Hotel. Accompanying our Violin teacher was Jose Jay Bonocan on the Clarinet & his son, Luke Bonocan on the Saxophone. Both are old acquaintances with our music school and were a fine addition.
However, the bride & groom specifically requested for Raymond to perform "We Found Love" by Rihanna when the couple would make their grand entrance into the hall. We are pleased to say that the whole event was a success and the guests enjoyed the musical entertainment that our school provided. Ultimately, JMS is a music school that prioritises the ABRSM Theory/Practical examinations but we also provide musical entertainment in events Congratulations to Caelen Jack Robson for winning 2nd place in the category Piano Grade 3 Popular B at Kota Kinabalu Music and Dance Festival 2018! The event took place on 16th September, 2018 at Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa. This competition draws musical talents yearly from Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore. Playing the piece 'Rock Around The Clock' by Max Freedman and Jimmy Decknight, he secured judges' praises for 'good energy' and 'tempo choice'.
Caelen has been under the tutelage of Teacher Jasmin Lou binti Abdullah for three years. Ultimately, JMS is a music school that prioritises the ABRSM Theory/Practical examinations. However, JMS ensures that students are also able to perform and compete at a high level. Jasmin Music Studio sends its heartiest congratulations to Emma Inara Hj. Mohd. Hizam for her outstanding performance in the Singapore International Classical Piano Competition 2018. The final round took place on 25 and 26 August 2018 at Lee Foundation Theatre, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. This competition attracted highly-skilled participants from across the globe, including pianists from USA, UK, France, Hong Kong, Canada and China.
Emma, representing Brunei Darussalam, was awarded third place in Category E (13 to 14 year old age group). The results were as follows: 1st- Singapore, 2nd- China, 3rd- Brunei. Emma showcased repertoire from the Classical and Romantic eras, Sonatina in F major by Beethoven and Nocturne in C# minor by Chopin respectively. Emma's musical education began with Teacher Jasmin Lou binti Abdullah. After developing a solid foundation in playing the piano, she continues to harness her piano performance skills under the tutelage of Teacher Iqhwan Caesar. Ultimately, JMS is a music school that prioritises the ABRSM Theory/Practical examinations. However, JMS ensures that students are also able to perform and compete at a high level. On January 20th 2018, Jasmin Music Studio successfully hosted a music recital at Jerudong International School Foyer entitled 'A Timeless Passion'. The event was graced by our guest of honour, Haji Sazali bin Dato Haji Sulaiman, Chairman of the Brunei Darussalam International Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He presented certificates to 21 students for achieving stellar results of either Distinction or High Distinction in their ABRSM theory and practical exams.
The fusion of talents from JMS students and Meragang Sixth Form Centre set the stage ablaze with music. Performers showcased pieces of genres ranging from classical to modern pop. It was a night to remember- the culmination of months of preparation and grit. This recital was featured in a Borneo Bulletin entry on January 21, 2018 entitled 'Musical Prodigies Showcase Talent'. More updates from Jasmin Music Studio coming soon! JMS has held three music recitals (at the time of writing) to give opportunities for public exposure to all the students apart from the graded exams. The aims of these recitals were to promote music to parents and friends for their enjoyment and to witness their children progress through their performances. These experiences have boosted their confidence in their abilities and in themselves.
